Synod 2022 will meet June 10-16, 2022, on the campus of Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In order to address the anticipated weighty agenda, synod will include virtual aspects during the few weeks leading up to the week of synod, including a convening session, the election of officers, and the appointment of the advisory committees. Advisory committees will also initially meet virtually to get underway, and meet in person for discussion regarding their assigned agenda matters during the week of the in-person synod.
More information, including vaccination guidelines, will be shared in late fall, 2021, as the decisions of the Council of Delegates October meeting are implemented with regard to Synod 2022.
Three significant synodical reports have been made available to churches and classes for study and response by overture or communications prior to their consideration: (download at crcna.org/SynodResources)
Committee to Articulate a Foundation-laying Biblical Theology of Human Sexuality
Ecclesiastical Marriage Task Force
Study of Bivocationality Task Force
Churches/classes may submit overtures or communications according to the Rules for Synodical Procedure (due by March 15), which may then be addressed by Synod 2022. The Program Committee of synod is tasked by the Council of Delegates to determine matters that need to be deferred to Synod 2023 due to the anticipated weighty agenda in 2022.
Print versions of the Deferred Agenda and Agenda for Synod, marked with shading of the matters to be addressed by the COD, will not be mailed to churches, but may be ordered by churches or CRC ordained personnel free of charge from Faith Alive Christian Resources.
February 19, 2021 - The Council of Delegates (COD) voted to cancel Synod 2021 and to defer any discussion or decision about the report from the Committee to Articulate a Foundation-Laying Biblical Theology of Human Sexuality until Synod 2022.
